A three-year investigation into the Ghostface Gangsters climaxed in Richmond County with Friday’s announcement of indictments against 77 gang members and associates for violence, drug dealing and sex trafficking.
Gov. Brian Kemp joined Sheriff Richard Roundtree, District Attorney Jared Williams and Augusta Mayor Hardie Davis in making the announcement at the RCSO South Precinct, 3425 Mike Padgett Highway.
The Ghostface Gangsters are primarily comprised of White Supremacists and Gangster Disciple Affiliates, an operation extending throughout three states (Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee) and deep into Georgia prisons.
“The Ghostface Gangsters are currently trying to expand into neighboring states, and they are considered the fastest growing white gang in the country with approximately 5,000 members,” a press release says.
The investigation into the Ghostface Gangsters started in January 2018 and will continue until all suspects are arrested. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Gang Intelligence Unit identified the members involved in criminal street gang activity.
“The gang’s culture, structure, leadership, chain of command, and all involved in the furtherance of this ongoing criminal enterprise have been charged,” the release says.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Gang Intelligence Unit compiled information on 163 Ghostface Gangster members and associates in the Augusta-Richmond County area, and a 136 count indictment has been drafted alleging that 77 members and associates have been implicated in violations of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, The Georgia Racketeer Influenced Criminal Organizations Act, and numerous criminal violations as part of an ongoing criminal enterprise to further the goals of the Ghostface Gangsters statewide and beyond.
This investigation is the single, largest gang investigation the state of Georgia has had thus far. This is a continuation of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office’s and our state, local, and federal partners’ commitment to the disruption and dismantling of criminal street gangs in our community also targeting those that support and enable these criminal enterprises, the release says.
Here are the names of those indicted. To find the charges, take the count number (Cts) and match it to the charges at bottom. We should have mugshots later.
